Revlon ColorStay Foundation.

As a girl who wasn't blessed with porcelain perfect skin, a great foundation is a necessity for me. I have normal to oily acne prone skin with large pores, slight discoloration and some minor scaring from an accident I had years ago. Because of my skin status, I require a foundation with build able coverage that lasts all day.

I have searched high and low for a foundation that performs to my standards. I have used every brand imaginable, and for some time was pretty satisfied with either MAC studio fix or prolong wear. But it always came down to the foundations breaking down over the course of the day or settling into my large pores. Also, as a neutral toned girl, MAC color selections forced me to custom mix my foundation each morning. I remembered having liked ColorStay some years ago and am always hearing raves about it in makeup forums, so I picked it back up and haven't looked back sense.
Here's the breakdown for Revlon ColorStay Foundation for Combo/Oily skin.

Packaging: This foundation is packaged in a thick clear glass bottle with a black plastic cap-reminiscent of MAC foundations. The bottle contains 1.0 fl ounces. Many people complain that the product does not have a pump to dispense the foundation. Because of this, application can get somewhat messy but I find it easier to apply the product to back of my hand first. If you must have a pump, you can purchase one from MAC Pro as these will fit the bottle.

Color Selection: Revlon offers a full range of shades ranging from cool-neutral-warm. As well as fair to deep complexions. However, I have heard some very fair friends complain that even their lightest shade is not light enough. I'm not sure but I believe there are 12 shades. I will update this post when I am certain of the numbers.

Performance: As the name implies this is a long wear foundation. I am able to go about 8 hours without any shine break through. And even after 8 hours the only breakthrough is on my nose and I have moderately oily skin. Revlon claims that your face will stay fresh for up to 16 hours, while this isnt the case with me, someone with less oily skin may well get 16 hours of freshly applied looking makeup. This foundation is mostly matte and can be built to full coverage depending on application technique. I have had success with a sponge, flat top brush, kabuki brush, fingers, as well as my beloved e.l.f. Studio powder brush. I don't find that this foundation settles into any fine lines or my enlarged pores. However, like any full coverage foundation it can become cakey if care isnt taken to blend and buff. Expect to need a solid makeup remover to fully remove it at night. I find an oil based remover works best and I typically use my filtered jojoba oil.

Bottom Line: This foundation is my holy grail and I absolutely can't imagine my face without it. It covers all of my imperfections with ease and never looks mask like or cakey. It is the longest wearing foundation I have used and never oxidizes or migrates on my face. I prefer applying it with a densely packed flat top brush (e.l.f. Studio powder brush) then build coverage over my imperfections with a duo fiber stippling brush. If you have oily to combination skin awnd you want a matte full coverage buildable foundation this product is for you. Prices range from 8.99 to 12.99 typically so it certainly isn't bad on the budget :)
